Location: Goshen, Indiana This college is located in a small town outside of South Bend, Indiana. Location: Pasadena, California Pacific Oaks doesnt exactly have a fantastic reputation among those whove attended in the past. Location: Brooklyn, New York This university has an acceptance rate of 88%, which makes the 32% graduation rate look even lower than it is. Location: Cincinnati, Ohio If youre looking to spend a ton of money on tuition with the possibility of not making nearly enough money over the next ten years or so to make a dent in your student loan debt go for it! But the institution was troubled from the very beginning, starting with the fact it used university in its name without obtaining a license from the New York State Education Department. Especially when you take into consideration that the average debt for alums is nearly $32,000. Plus, loans can get expensive, and you may find yourself facing off with nearly $28,000 in debt on average. Location: Colorado Springs, CO Everest College, which was headed up by the parent company Corinthian Colleges, shut down most of its campuses in 2016 after their reputation was tarnished by their worthless diplomas. So if you think that working your butt off in school for 6 months will make you a chef, think again. Youre paying the same amount of money for a culinary education that you would be paying for a liberal arts education, but the job youre graduating with pays minimum wage instead of $40k. Although its also a small town of around 2,500 people and half of them attend this school. Location: New Ulm, Minnesota Martin Luther College seems to be all about the sports, as nearly a third of all students participate in varsity sports programs. It actually has some pretty great things going for it, so it isnt all bad. Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina The numbers just dont add up for Fayetteville Stat graduates, so its best to keep searching for a better school which there are plenty of in North Carolina. Because this school is listed at number one of the most dangerous schools in the U.S, thanks to its high crime rate. By August of 2020, the Flint Township campus will close although theyre just consolidating and moving to Owosso. But thats only the beginning of the bad at Texas College. Location: Wilberforce, Ohio If you live near Central State in Wilberforce, Ohio, and youre interested in sticking around, you should know what youll get yourself into if you choose to attend. San Diego Culinary Kendall College School of Culinary Arts 5. Plus, their tuition runs each student nearly $39,000 per year. But that number looks even worse you compare it to the median ten-year salary of $48,700. The school has also been in hot water with FIREs lawyers for censoring student flyers and banning its sororities and fraternities from using the Greek alphabet. Location: Sumter, SC Morris College seems to take more than it gives from its students and graduates. Needless to say, this school is one of the worst in the country for free speech at least, under Ray Cross leadership, that is. Its up to you to really practice that technique outside of class, like any normal education expects of you. But that doesnt mean they dont have their issues. The tuition isnt incredibly expensive, though it is higher than some other local schools at around $12,000/year. San Diego Culinary Institute. Location: Ft. Lauderdale FL Keiser University in Ft. Lauderdale isnt a terrible school, but its definitely not among the best in the country, either. But they also have some room for improvement, like their graduation rate, which is just over 30%. Vernon, the location of this school in Georgia, is a college town is an understatement. But unless youre planning on being a professional athlete, you should consider the fact youre looking at a ROI of around -$122,000. Location: Aiken, South Carolina None of the numbers look very good at this school in South Carolina, at least, not the 41% graduation rate or the $41,000 median income. One thing theyve got going for them is the low default rate, which is just over 5.5%.
